Ségolène Brossette Galerie invites Cinabre edition to the exhibition ‘Absolus,’ which highlights the works of Christophe Beauregard and the publishing house’s titles, including its latest release, Absolus. Let’s get high! This book, the result of a collaboration between art historian Paul Ardenne and photographer Christophe Beauregard, bears witness to an infinite quest for the absolute.

In homage to Balzac’s novel, La Recherche de l’absolu, Christophe Beauregard explores the tension between our bodies, caught between the desire for singularity and the temptation of conformism, between our moments of jubilation and our deepest aspirations. In a word: a society in perpetual search of hedonism and representation.

Taken from the latest publication by Cinabre, this reflection runs through the entire catalogue of the publishing house, whether it be a high-mountain ascent towards a revelation or the discovery of an island landscape, mysteriously open to the beyond.

But what is the absolute, really? How can it be defined? What role does it play in our lives? Is it synonymous with transcendence—whether physical, scientific, political, artistic, spiritual, ecological, or even totalitarian? Is it a quest for pleasure, joy, an idyll or nirvana to be attained, or is it a concept that has become obsolete?

Three weeks of exhibitions and unique encounters with Christophe Beauregard and the authors of books published by Cinabre will explore these questions.
